A Heartwarming Family Photoshoot in the Rain with an Amazing Mom and Her Kids

There’s a special magic that comes with family photoshoots, especially when you’re able to capture not just moments, but the love, resilience, and bond that a family shares. Recently, I had the privilege of photographing an incredible single mother and her three wonderful children in the Columbia River Gorge. This was more than just a photoshoot; it was about celebrating their journey and the strength that binds them together.

As we started, the rain came pouring down, but this family was all in, embracing the rain with an adventurous spirit! We kept warm with blankets in between shots, laughing at the chilly drops, and sharing in those in-between moments that felt so real. The lush greens of the Gorge, softened by the mist, created a stunning, timeless backdrop that perfectly matched the warmth of their connection.

And then, as if nature knew just when to shine, the clouds parted and the sun broke through toward the end of our session. The light was golden and glowing, illuminating their faces and making the entire landscape feel alive. It was one of those moments where everything seemed to come together—a mix of wild beauty, resilience, and joy.

As a family photographer, it’s these moments that fill me with gratitude for what I do. Working with this strong, inspiring mother and her kids reminded me why I’m so passionate about capturing families as they are, through every season and all of life’s beautiful, messy, unpredictable weather. Thank you to this wonderful family for trusting me to capture this time in their lives—it was truly an honor.
